The Petaluma Leghorns saw their 12-game playoff winning streak ended with an 8-5 loss to Tucson, Ariz. in the American Legion Western Regionals semifinals. Despite the loss, the Leghorns’ 3-0 start to the tournament being played in Surprise, Ariz. put them into the championship game. They will play the winner of the Las Vegas vs. Tucson game at at 1 p.m. today.
Runners left on base hurt the Leghorns against Tucson. Arizona pitcher Indalecio Romo found his way out of jams all game. Romo pitches at Eastern Arizona College and went 5-5 with a 3.68 ERA last season.
