The trailer is an eye-catcher right away. As commentary makes you inch closer to the screen with Robinson walking up the dugout steps, you know you’re in for a treat.
A sports film can transfix a wide audience in many ways. Through story line and action, a great sports film makes any viewer stuck to their seat.
Recently, there has not been too many truly transfixing sports films. “42” may be the next classic sports movie.
The story of Jackie Robinson is well known as he was the first African-American to play professional baseball, for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
In the trailer, the movie looks real and seems to capture the essence of the time. With such a big story in such a troubling time, each characteristic of the movie must feel real.
From the scenery to the characters, it looks as if “42” has brought the days of Jackie Robinson back to life.
Chadwick Boseman, who plays Jackie Robinson, looks true to the great Robinson in both physical features and attitude. Harrison Ford could be the perfect fit to play Branch Rickey, the Dodgers owner who signed Robinson.
The film is set to come out April 12, 2013.
