ESPN analyst, Skip Bayless, has not only embarrassed himself, but all journalists with his recent racist comments on Washing Redskins quarterback, Robert Griffin III.
On Monday’s episode of ESPN’s First Take, Bayless said, “I’m going to throw it out there. You also have the black/white dynamic and the majority of Redskins fans are white and it’s just human nature if you’re white to root for the white guy. It just happens in sports. Just like the black community will root for the black quarterback.”
The controversial Bayless has made himself a villain once again. This isn’t the first time Bayless has made a racial comment that has caused quite the stir and he constantly makes people shake his head with ridiculous comments.
I know that Bayless is on a show just looking for ratings any way they can, but this just may be too far.
Why go after a rookie that has done nothing wrong?
After winning the Heisman trophy at Baylor and graduating early, RG3 is off to a great start as an NFL rookie. He has been praised by the coaches, his teammates and the fans already love their new starting quarterback.
Skip Bayless is just flat out wrong.
Do we live in a perfect world with no racists and complete equality? No. However, the only column that Redskins fans will worry about is the win column, not the race column.
If Griffin wins games and turns the Redskins around then the fans will continue to love him. If not, they will want the quarterback that gives the team the best chance to win. It does not matter if he is black, white or the mascot.
Bayless is an embarrassment to journalists and does not represent true sports analyzing at all. There is no need for him at ESPN, except to create controversy.
Controversy is a part of sports and journalism, but not the irrational comments that Bayless makes.
The public’s responsibility is to now, not give Bayless the attention he so desperately desires. Tune out Bayless, his comments and his show. If that is not the answer for you, let your voice be heard to ESPN.
Skip Bayless is not a journalist, he’s an embarrassment.
